50/50 sharemilker Jo Townsend had been wanting to drive tractors for a long time, but it wasn't until she came across Ag Drive that she could make her dream a reality.
Sharemilking in Wardville near Matamata, Jo Townsend always wanted to drive tractors, but other more pressing things seemed to take up her time.
"I've been wanting to drive tractors for a long time, but it's never been a priority," says Jo.
"I came across an Ag Drive Tractor course on Facebook, and thought I'd give it a go."
Completing the Ag Drive 5 Day Tractor Operation micro-credential course, Jo learned a range of theory and practical skills.
These included starting and stopping the engine in a safe manner, operating the tractor in a forward and reverse direction, attaching a mounted implement and a trailed implement, manoeuvring them in a forward and reverse direction.
Jo says completing the course helped her to build her confidence.
"I found it amazingly confidence building. I never felt under pressure and it was a really nice small class," says Jo.
"I rate the course 10 out of 10 and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to learn to drive a tractor, but is a bit nervous to give it a go."
